Contribution of cardiovascular diseases to total burden of disease higher for men
There is a small difference in the total burden of for men and women. The total burden of disease for men was 2.7 million DALYs and for women 2.6 million dalys in 2022 (not shown in figure). However, cardiovascular diseases contribute more to the total burden of disease in men and mental disorders have a greater contribution to the total burden of disease in women.
Ranking of diseases with the highest burden of disease differs between men and women
The ranking of individual diseases with the highest burden of disease differs between men and women. In addition to the order, the disease also differ. Alcohol-related disorders are in 5th place for men and for women this condition does not appear in the top 10. The same applies to diabetes mellitus. Diseases that are in the top 10 for women and not in the top ten for men are dementia and breast cancer.
